Kingston High School Principal Craig Brewster spoke at the noon meeting, Oct 8, of the Kingston North Kitsap Rotary Club.

Brewster is Kingston High School's new principal.  His high energy and genuine friendliness makes time spent with him special.  He told Rotarians his goal this year is to build much stronger connections between Kingston High School and the Greater Kingston Community.  Those connections might be in the form of more community members at school events and volunteering in the school, and more students at community events and volunteering in the community.
Craig gave details to the saying, "It takes a Village to Raise a Child," meaning volunteering. From being there to greet kids in the morning or at lunch, to tutoring including a designated time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, volunteer time is seen as extremely important and valued.  In fact, the volunteering can be in a variety of forms, dependent upon the circumstances.  He also shared and answered questions about a number of programs in the school including Advance Placement Classes, Non-AP classes that earned college credits, Career and Technical courses to gain skills for jobs in the trades, and specialty courses like Biomedical Science course-work.  He also shared how struggling students could be identified by their MTSS team that looks at data to indicate where greater assistance is needed. From the other side, Craig shared a program where a student team or club members develop a project to "Give Back" to improve the school and community.
Principal Brewster's presentation left you with the feeling that very positive energy is a mark of KHS for the 2025-2026 school year.
